Her Mule Hollow Cowboy (4) - Maddie Rose inherited a part of a ranch with a handful of other cowboys, and she’s determined to show she can pull her weight around the place. After growing up in the foster care system, this was the first time Maddie had had a place where she might really belong, and she didn’t want to blow it. When Cliff Masterson comes to visit his brother, one of the other ranch owners, he finds Maddie about to be trampled by a huge bull she was trying to load. Sparks start flying at the beginning, but Maddie isn’t about to give her heart to some rambling rodeo star, and he infuriates her when he tries to keep her from taking any risks on the job. Ranching involves risks.

Again, I liked this book, but Maddie was too sassy, independent, and had to always prove herself. Cliff was better, but he has both his laid-back and his arrogant, stubborn sides. It was the typical hate-love romance, and very predictable. Some of the sentences came across as rather awkward. Also, “mines” was used for “mine’s (meaning mine has), and the wrong pronoun was used in “between she and Cliff.”

The author could have taken this storyline so much further rather than losing my interest in some places. She shows real talent in some places and then I'm reminded it is "just a romance novel". Problem is, in the west, no matter what you do, you do it to the best of your ability because no one else will do it for you.

This was a fun contemporary western romance. Although I enjoyed the characters I felt that the plot was a little thin. The "oh, I was a poor sickly baby left on the steps at the post office and lived in foster care" and the subsequent "oh, I am so scared to try and let someone love me" was on just about every page and was wearing thin. Wish I could say I would recommend this book but I really cannot.

I just read this entire series and loved it! It's nice to read "clean" romance for a while. The characters were well written and had depth. The stories flowed and never became boring. I was so lucky to have had the first book as ''free" on a website and so glad I took a chance and got it. You never know what kind of wonderful "find" you're going to come across. Debra, you did such a wonderful job with these books! I wish the New Horizon Ranch was a real place where I could go and meet everyone. It did my heart and mind good reading these. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for such a wonderful escape from the worries of life for a bit while I took a trip to this amazing place. God bless you and keep up the great work!

This is a novella which might as well have been called His Mule Hollow Cowgirl. Maddie is working on a cattle ranch when the owner dies, and being short of heirs, he leaves the ranch to the five hired hands - Maddie and four guys who happen to be young and fit. I am sure there are tax implications but that's not mentioned; maybe this is why they are selling off a bull at the start of this story. Rather rashly Maddie wants to prove herself just as tough as anyone, and is loading the bull by herself when she gets kicked and nearly trampled. I would have said this was a two-person job no matter who was doing it.

Cliff turns up in time to help and he's the brother of one of the other new ranch owners. He has been a pro bull rider but upon hitting thirty is considering settling down to ranch rather than keep getting injured. Maddie and Cliff have an instant chemistry but she is sure he'll be back on the circuit soon, and the four guys all warn Cliff against upsetting her.

The little town is well described, just an introduction with people of various ages and a small posse of match makers. Well, in a small town there is not much to do but gossip about folks. Mule Hollow we are told has lots of good people and they are running a festival, riding lessons and fun. We also see some of the ranch work such as rearing orphaned calves. I like Maddie's character and the challenges she has faced and overcome in life.

There is no great drama or adventure, and the scripture quotes are dropped in rather oddly to my mind. This is a short novella and a romance suitable for young adults as well as adults. There is an epilogue which is actually not to do with this story, it is the start of the next in this little series.

Mule Hollow is a great place to visit and every story about it is fun to read. This one is no exception. You’ll love Maddie Rose and Cliff Masterson, although there are also other great characters in the story. Maddie is one of five owners of the New Horizon ranch. Cliff is a professional bull rider, coming to visit his twin brother Rafe, and looking to buy a ranch in the Mule Hollow area. The story starts with Maddie trying to load an ornery bull named Buford into a trailer, but that job ends with Maddie in the dirt, ready to be trampled by Buford. You can imagine what would have happened if Cliff hadn’t arrived just then to save the day. There is instant chemistry between them when Cliff helps Maddie up off the ground, but sparks fly almost immediately. He criticizes and she automatically bristles. That seems to be the pattern whenever they’re together. Maddie is afraid to open her heart to Cliff because she’s had too many people leave her in the past. She’s sure he’ll leave to go back to the rodeo circuit. Cliff knows Maddie has some kind of issues, so he goes slowly to win her heart and, needless to say, his efforts meet with success. I enjoyed this story and I’m sure you will too.

This is a great, feel good romance. Maddie is a character that has a lot of pain in her past, but she's beginning to realize that if she wants a future with any happiness at all, she has to be willing to risk her heart. Cliff, likewise, has a painful past, but he's further down the path in overcoming it. He recognizes a kindred spirit in Maddie and reaches out to her. This is a story of one damaged soul helping another and the outcome is sweet and gentle.
Romance Rating - PG for a few kisses.
Overall Rating - 4. I deducted one point for some grammar mistakes. I also wish there had been an epilogue.

I actually connect with this book alot because it talks about abandonment issues. Growing up in my family you woud understand how it feels to be left and forgotten. Or just not good enough.Even though it's only a book, I'm really happy she got semi-over it and found her true love. I look up to all the really people who have done that and hope to one day do that to.
I loved the story line, plot, and how the Arthur whent from person to person to have you understand all the views. Even though it was a little repetative I thought that helped to have the reminders in different parts of the story to make sure you don't forget. I loved the book and can't wait to read the next in the series.

Maddie Rose, just imagine this trying to get Bulford a 2000 pound bull and she couldn't get his rump into this cattle trailer. Most things in Maddie, life hadn't come easy. She was a sickly baby, her parents left her alone sitting in a car seat in the Post Office. She was raised in an orphanage was an homey community the closes to a family she'd every get. Maddie was part owner of a magnificent New Horizon Ranch, that C.C. had left to her and four other heirs. Bulford kicked the gated into Maddie and she landed face first in the dirt. Maddie had a gorgeous rescuer, Cliff Masterson, he was a bull rider. It took Maddie, a long time to accept that GOD loved her too. She finally understood John 3:16. Abandonment issues was tough for her. It scared her to death. Unless she could get past that she could never let a man close enough to her to fall in love. Ester Mae Wilson, Norma Sue Jerkins and Sam's wife, Adilla Lidbetter Green, better known as the Match Makin of Mule Hollow seen Cliff plant a kiss on Maddie right on Main Street, where they all seen him. You really got to get the book so you can find out if anything happen, also see if Maddie ever get over her abandonment issues. I was given this book for my honest opinion. Blessings to you. You need to get this book.

Maddie and hard times seems to be her lot in life, belonging nowhere. A gift of part owner of a ranch, and trying to load one stubborn bull. A kick, and landing in the dirt, to seeing and meeting Rafe. Never let anyone close to her, has been her creed to live by, could that change. Delightful, enjoyable, of how love changes for these two.

Her Mule Hollow cowboy by Debra Clopton
Maddie Rose and some of the other cowboys had a ranch willed to them after the owner died. Now Maddie thinks she has to prove that she is just as good as the rest of the cowboys. Well she has some trouble one day getting a bull into the trailer . About the time she was already on the ground she looked up and sees Cliff Masterson a stranger helping her. Now Cliff probably saved her life but he thought she was dead by the time he got to her. Cliff is home to try and find some land to settle on and raise bulls so he can leave the rodeo circuit. Will stubborn Maddie let Cliff help her? She thinks that he is a handsome cowboy. Why did the other cowboys let Maddie try and get the bull into the trailer by herself? I loved this story about Maddie and Cliff.

Ever have a ranch willed to you? Well, meet Maddie Rose who
became one of 5 owners of the New Horizon ranch in Mule Hollow
did. Maddie Rose is trying to prove that she can work as hard and
efficiently as the other male partners on this ranch. When Maddie
Rose goes to load Buford, the ornery tempered bull, by herself into
the trailer to her dismay, Buford does not co-operate. Maddie Rose
falls and is ready to be trampled when Cliff Masterson arrives at the
ranch to see his brother, Rafe who is one of the 5 owners.
Electricity zaps between the two but both Cliff and Maddie Rose
have issues that won’t let them give their love freely. Cliff goes slow
but will he be able to win Maddie Rose?
This is a quick, enjoyable read!!
I received this book as a gift from the author. My opinions are my own.

Anytime I can visit Mule Hollow is a great time for me! I wait anxiously for books from Debra! There is just something about cowboys and their vulnerability when they are in Mule Hollow! This story was about Cliff who is visiting his brother who is a part-owner of a ranch. His first day there he rescues Maddie from being crushed by a bull! Maddie is also one of the part-owners of the ranch. Maddie has never belonged anywhere and she's so excited about belonging on this ranch. Cliff has been a professional bull rider but he's getting tired of that and ready to do something different. Can they perhaps belong together in Mule Hollow? Come visit Mule Hollow and find out!!!

Her Mule Hollow Cowboy by Debra Clapton
Cliff, a pro bull rider comes to Mule Hollow to visit his brother Rafe and do some soul searching. He finds more than he every imagined when he saves Maddie from Buford the bull. Maddie has the walls to her heart up after being raised in foster care. But Cliff is determined to bring down her walls and settle in Mule Hollow. Debra Clapton did a wonderful job with this well written book. If you enjoy Christian fiction with a little romance this is the book for you. I enjoyed the spit fire personalities and the witty characters of Her Mule Hollow Cowboy. I give this novel five stars and highly recommend it.

Her Mule Hollow Cowboy by Debra Clopton
Maddie Rose was determined to work as hard as her male partners on the ranch that was willed to them all. She finally had a place to belong. Putting her past behind her and deciding if she couldn't have her dream, at least she had this.

Cliff Masterson thought he was living the dream being on the bull riding circuit. Now that his dad died, he stopped to realize maybe he'd been running all these years. When he went to stay with his brother Rafe and look for land in Mule Hollow, he never expected to find someone that could fill the empty hole in him, even if she was a stubborn spit-fire of a woman.

My personal favorite is anything with a rugged cowboy. Her Mule Hollow Cowboy by Debra Clopton is a dream come true for any woman—Maddie is part owner of a ranch with three good-looking cowboys! Then who should come visiting but Rafe’s handsome bull riding brother, Cliff. Maddie tries to protect her heart, history has taught her that the only person she can depend on is herself. The theme that runs through this story besides a first kiss is forgiveness, putting the past behind, learning from mistakes and moving toward a brighter future. Definitely a must-read that I know you will enjoy!

I have enjoyed Debra Cloptons books for some years. My first book was about Lacy Brown and I was hooked. I have all of her books and anticipate all the new ones. I read Her Mule Hollow Cowboy and enjoyed it so much. Her characters are so good and I really can't wait to see the other cowboys and their stories. Maddie Rose is a great character trying to make her way with a bunch of cowboys. Along the way she meets a very good looking cowboy that sees her for the woman she is. Great read. Would recommend this book and all her other great Mule Hollow books too. Can't wait for the next one.

Debra Clopton writes great cowboy romances and Her Mule Hollow Cowboy is no exception. I listened to the book on audio and it kept my attention from the very first page where a bull tries to stomp Maddie Rose into the dirt before Cliff Masterson can save her, all the way to the very satisfying, happy ending. If you're looking for tough-and-tender cowboys to sweep you away after a hard day of work in sweet romances, look no farther than Debra Clopton's books. They always bring a smile to my face. :-)

I loved the small town feel of the storyline and the characters were very well written. The matchmaker ladies were a hoot. This book was really good with romance and faith rolled into one. I enjoyed it alot and I'm looking forward to reading more from Debra Clopton

A contemporary western novella, this story is very sweet. I really enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Cliff and Maddie. There is so much for Maddie to overcome in order to learn to trust and let herself take a chance on love. Watching her emotional growth through the story and Cliff’s patience with her is very sweet.

I received a complimentary copy of First Kisses, which contained this novella, in exchange for an honest review, which I have given.

Her Mule Hollow Cowboy by Debra Clopton
I loved this sweet romance by Debra Clopton. Maddie had been an orphan, left at the post office as a baby, unwanted. Could she trust Cliff with her heart? She didn’t trust anyone. She didn’t want anyone telling her what to do.
Cliff was a bull rider. Could he give up his lifestyle and settle down with Maddie?
You’ll love this romance as Maddie and Cliff come to terms with their past and forge their future together.

Maggie agreed to help Cara do window displays at Pettett and Mayfields . She had no idea she would learn to trust in God and let go of her hurt and for give. Edger had been controlled by his mother for years after meeting Cara he knew it was time to set things straight with his mom. Cara wanted to take things slow for fear his mom would make him choose and not wanting to come between them. Least expected is a wonderful story of true love and Christian beliefs

This was fun to listen too. Maddie & Cliff are introduced when Maddie is knocked down by an ornery bull. Cliff rescues her and the romance begins. I enjoyed the voice of the narrator, she had a good drawl where needed and the passion she could bring out in those kisses! This was a good clean Christian romance and If you enjoy Christian fiction with a little romance this is a book for you.

I was pleasantly surprised by this story. I found the hero to be kind and understanding and knocked on his butt when he saw the heroine! It was a great quick read and I would recommend it. I was a little annoyed at Maddie's [for lack of a better term] slowness in changing her attitude but she had a lot to overcome in her upbringing/history. And how can you not like that a woman lives with hunky guys who adore her?

Her Mule Hollow Cowboy is a delightful novella and Book 1 in Debra Clopton's New Horizon Ranch series! I loved the endearing characters and their dynamic personalities! Although they tried, Maddie Rose and Cliff Masterson couldn't deny the chemistry between them. I adored their entertaining love story and can't wait for my next visit to Mule Hollow and the New Horizon Ranch!

I have read a lot of Debra Clopton books and have not been disappointed. Her latest, Her Mule Hollow Cowboy, is no exception. I love the feeling of being transported to another place and time and getting into the characters and storyline. Her books never disappoint! There is always something unexpected to find--for example, Maddie almost being crushed by a bull. If you want a rewarding read, then Mule Hollow Cowboy is it!

I really enjoy books with a western theme so this was right up my alley! I loved how Maddie embraced her new life with a passion and was grateful for it. There's something very appealing about a cowboy and a man who knows what he wants. This story was a pleasure to read!
