I first came across Brendon on YouTube via one of his B&W, maniacally enthusiastic motivational videos. I was intrigued by his boundless energy and I could tell he was passionate about his subject but I was gradually put off by the hype.
However I am now flipping through his latest book "High Performance Habits" and I am happy to say that it is very sensible and practical.
I have been studying human performance as a martial arts practitioner and coach for years and I strongly believe that the willingness and ability to form better habits are key to improving one's life and performance in any field.
Bravo Brendon and thank you for your intelligence in making this essential set of tools available to anyone interested out there.
All the best,
Laurent

This book is awful. I am struggling to get past the initial 100 pages. The author is so ongoingly repetitive throughout the book, it almost sounds like waffling. He is trying way to hard to sound like an expert about very basic concepts. I expected this to be incredible based on reviews, but if you are looking for intellect and fresh information... you wont find it in this book.

This book is in the category of leadership and it focuses on success in business, not success in your personal life. This book rehashes ideas that many other authors have already covered. This book presents those ideas in an overly wordy and unmemorable way. I learned effectively nothing from this book and it was a slog to get through. It had way too much self promotion for my liking, promoting his other products and services. He also talks about his personal and family history, which are seemingly off topic, and he likes to mention how successful he is as justification for writing so much about his own progress. At the end of this book are a few pages in a section titled "Summary." Everything potentially useful in this book is contained in those few pages.

These concepts are covered much better by other authors. Brian Tracy, Tony Robbins, Jim Rohn, John Maxwell, and Stephen Covey have all written better books or have given better presentations. I don't really believe that the author follows his own advice as implementation of concepts is much harder than knowing the concepts and the author does not spend much time addressing the difficulty of implementation. Other authors do a better job at covering how concepts are implemented.

I do not think the content of the book reflects the title. The content does not discuss many habits and what it does discuss are not key to high performance. Read other books or listen to podcasts where successful people are interviewed and most of them don't bring up concepts like "develop influence." Tim Ferriss has better content on habits of high performers. What was key for one person might be irrelevant for someone else. I have a feeling that the author's primary knowledge comes from reading other books, not on personally implementing these concepts. So many habits of high performers covered by other authors are not even hinted at in this book.

The audio version is HORRIBLE. Even though Brendon actually has a great voice the way in which he speaks makes it unbearable. I tried listening to the book, but every few seconds my mind would wonder off about how distracting his narration is. His speaking and narration is stop-style, he stops and emphasizing literally every other word where you have no idea what the actual important emphasizing is, or much of where ideas begin or end. My husband and I tried to listen to it and both felt like we were loosing our mind and it's just not worth it.

This is a truly wonderful book that sets a completely new standard in personal development. Most people think of high performers as being almost a "different breed" of human being. That they are somehow unique and that they were born with abilities that others simply do not posess. However, Brendon Burchard clearly shows through detailed research and many fascinating anecdotes that anyone can achieve their full potential when they put into practice the simple, effective habits you will learn in this book. High Performance Habits is a book that can truly change your life. There is some work involved, but the benefits far outweigh the efforts required. If you've ever wondered why others seem to be getting ahead faster than you, even when you are doing what appears to be your very best, then this book is for you. Learn the secrets of high performers, mirror their habits and see your life change fast.

As a Certified High Performance Coach for 5 years, I've been immersed in these concepts for quite some time. But every few minutes reading this book, I've been constantly learning something new and seeing new persectives. Brendon Burchard has taken the science of High Performance to a new level with this contribution. The book is structured in an easy to follow, logical format and sequence, and distills down the MOST important habits for you to be practicing... so if you want to make the most progress the fastest, he lays it out clearly for you to simply implement. While you can just read this book, you'll get even more out of it if you actually do the work he suggests.

LOVE it and was really happy to get an advance copy so that I could read it prior to it's release. I've underlining passages where I'm gaining insights and writing all over it. I suggest you do the same too!

A friend recommended the audiobook, which I found for free on the author's podcast. The author himself reads the book and there's no other way to say it than to just spit it out: It's awful. His cadence is so staccato it pulls me out of whatever point he's trying to make. I literally cannot focus on the content because of all the odd pauses in the middle of sentences, where no pause should be. Imagine Captain James T. Kirk from the good ship Enterprise on steroids. UNLISTENABLE!

Normally, if I really connect with an audiobook like this, I'll buy the paper version so I can highlight, make notes, perform the 'homework', etc. Unfortunately, regardless of the terrible narration, I haven't learned anything noteworthy enough to justify buying the book -- not even to read it instead of having to suffer through the audiobook. I've been waiting for some really amazing insights that would lead me to buy the book, but it all seems to be a distillation of others' works. And as others have noted, it's basically just one big advertisement for his ridiculously priced courses.

And before any fanatics think to themselves, "Oh, this person is a classic underachiever!"...I'm a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author who has earned a living from writing for nearly two decades. I'm always interested in improving my skillsets, but so far this book isn't offering new insights. Sadly, I'll never find out if there's some a-ha moment buried in there because I can't tolerate the narration.

I looked forward to reading this book as a successful business person for over 35 years. I always write comments inside the many books I read on all kinds of subjects. Here's what I wrote in this book: I know quite a few people who once they become satisfied with their definition of "successful" will sit back and stop working as hard. The only motivation to get back on the horse so to speak is because the bills need to be paid! They simply are not high performance individuals and are very happy people with themselves and the lives they have created. This world is not made for exceptional people but for the average person. That's why only some people are called extraordinary and they are in the minority. It is very possible to have gratitude every day, have a definition of success that belongs to them only, and feel vibrant, joyful and confident and well. Not everyone is driven to be a "high performer" and extraordinary. Becoming extraordinary means leaving the majority. Some are happy just being accomplished. Of course, Oprah recommends this book with the highest recommendation...she is extraordinary. If you want to live an exceptional and extraordinary life, you have to give up many of the things that are part of a normal one.” -Srinivas Rao

The Other Kind of Smart: Simple Ways to Boost Your Emotional Intelligence for Greater Personal Effectiveness and Success

Before reading any book I consider who the author is, their authenticity and credentials to write the book. Brendon Burchard is the real thing. Coming from very humble beginnings to being one of the top people in his field tells me that he has some important information that I could learn. Having heard Brendon speak I expected the book to be like the man, fast moving, inspiring, to the point and from the heart. It was all of those things and more. The book talks about the 6 High Performance Habits that if we practice faithfully will bring our game to a higher level. It also offers self-assessments, planner sheets and video training. I have always been very leery of books try to sell the idea that we can acheive greatly with little effort, because of some secret formula that the author has developed. This books dispels that myth and honestly tell us that any worthwhile goals will require a great deal of continuous effort on our part. As I went through the book I kept looking at my own situation and discovered areas that I needed to work on as well as feeling validated as I was already working diligently on areas that I needed to.in order reach higher achievement.

Brendon is "obsessed" about what drives us and what determines high performance. And "obsession" is something positive way because "Necessity" is one of the habits he identified as a driver. And "obsession" is one form of necessity.

The quality of his work is that amazing that I decided to become a Certified High Performance Coach myself, so I can help others.

What Brendon shares is based on extensive research. And it will help everybody who wants "more" in life, more happiness, more health, more wealth, more relationship, etc.

And now, he put the findings into his new book.

When you are interested in high performance, then this is the book to buy.

I purchased and reviewed this book on the store.co.uk but have also posted it here should you find the review useful.

This is an empirical research based book on Habits to be extraordinary as the tag line of the book states -"How Extraordinary People Become That Way". Brendon is a writer who has written 5 other books and you may have seen him on Social Media where he has a very large fan following. Do look him up if you have never come across him. His message certainly resonates with me and I love the fact that he is such a genuine Human Being.

If you look him up you will see that according to Success Magazine and Oprah.com he is considered as the world's leading high performance coach. I am not saying this to big him up, but to put this information in context with the book. The very fact that Brendon is a high performance coach working with some incredible people at the pinnacle of success is where he can bring in these learnings in the book along with the research study that the book is based on (The research in the book includes 195 countries and more than 2 million people representing data points, which is now the world's largest high-performance study ever done)

Through this work, he has identified several habits that successful people have and narrowed it down to 6 habits that make the biggest difference. The 6 habits that are the biggest needle movers. The book is all about these 6 habits that are divided into Personal and Social Habits. If you want to get a sense of this then use the ‘Look Inside’ feature in the store where you can also get to read the introduction and the first chapter of the book including the dive into the first high performance habit - Seeking clarity.

The book is fairly large book with close to 400 pages, however, it has information broken down nicely into the habits and you can work through bit by bit. For me, this will be a reference book I will be looking at regularly along with other tools that Brendon recommends. Also included with the book is a free professional assessment and planner sheets which you can print and fill in as well. This is where I feel that the book adds great value.

The book is not just about getting you excited about the habits by talking at you. It gets you to ask very powerful questions of yourself and helps you start the process of embodying these habits. So for example the clarity chart you can print has questions and prompts on Self, Social Skills, Service, Focus and Feeling and also getting you to define what is meaningful to you. So you could read a chapter in the book and then print and complete the chart which would allow you to set your intent and also have a plan of action. It also means it is individualised to YOU and where you are at in your life at that moment.

Each chapter starts with a story of Brendon working with a client which is a very powerful way of understanding the concept and helping set context.
It also really helps drive the message and can help the reader understand the effect of the lack of that particular habit and of course the power of adopting it. With each chapter having a different story this really helps bring the habit to focus. Brendon then talks through various practices that can be done to adopt and excel in that habit. Each Practice has its performance prompts with powerful questions e.g. "If I was going to get in the best shape of my life, the first three things I would stop doing would be..."

Apart from the 6 habits, Brendon also talks about sustaining success (After all, High performance is about having the success over a sustained period and not just short bursts) and being aware of traps people get into (Especially when you are good at something). This information is also very useful and helps bring the book nicely to a close.

As mentioned in my review headline, the book does an excellent job of bringing to light the 6 Habits that have the power to TRANSFORM you. It makes it clear that this is not a magic pill and just knowing this information does not really do anything. Actually understanding where you are on this (Through the assessment), getting a great understanding of the habits (Which the book does very well) and also applying this to your own life (the worksheets and engaging with the performance prompts and questions help tremendously) is crucial for you to then have a massive, positive and transformational shift that the book is aiming to give. Please don't use this as just a book you will read once and put back. It is an empowering tool and the more you engage with it, the more you will get from this.

I highly recommend this book. As mentioned, if you are still not sure, please look at the ‘Look inside’ feature so see some of the content. Also have a look at Brendon's podcast, the Brendon Show where you can find audio excerpts of the book which I feel are also a very powerful way of engaging with the book content. I am grateful for having read this book and I will continue to use this over the coming months and years as part of my self-development journey.

I didn't want to give away too much but did want to share a bit on habit 2 all the information on all the habits are amazing & you have to get the book to get into more detail. Here are my brief notes to spark some interest:

* Mental energy - focus, stamina, manage complex tasks without too much mental stress
* Emotional energy - quality of your positive emotions
* Physical energy - 40% more likely to workout to workout 5 times per week
* CEOs put in as much energy as professional athletes
* You don't have happiness you have to create it. You don't HAVE energy you have to create it

Brendon Burchard's life work will help your life work better. I have been following Brendon Burchard for a few years now, reading all of his books and taking many of his courses, including High Performance Academy. I consider myself a fairly good authority on his work, and I can honestly tell you that this book can help improve your life. It summarizes much of the material presented in his live seminars that draw 2,000+ people several times a year, and updates much of the research. What sets Brendon apart from other personal development gurus is the thoroughness of his research and the practicality of his action items. You aren't asked to speak to your inner child or manifest grace into your life; the items are as tactical as programming your phone or adding supplements to your wellness regime. But these tactics are all part of an overall strategy to help you achieve your goals in multiple arenas. But be forewarned - there is a LOT of useful information here. It's easy to get overloaded. My suggestion is to start with the tips that seem like "quick wins," gain a little positive momentum, and then gradually add some of the bigger transformational actions. This book is like a souped-up version of the notes I took at the High Performance Academy live seminar. It will stick with you for life and help you achieve and SUSTAIN high performance. Don't miss out!

I've been a student of Brendon Burchard's for almost 7 years now, and I have to say "High Performance Habits - How Extraordinary People Become That Way" is definitely one of my favorite books of his (and in my library)!

As a high performance coach, Brendon gifted me with an advanced copy of his book, and I am so grateful for it! Although I've been studying and implementing high performance habits in my own life for quite some time now, it's amazing how many new perspectives and valuable insights I've gotten by reading his book! My copy is filled with highlights, underlines and notes that I know I will continue to reference. This is a book that I know I will re-read over and over again because Brendon's research, tools, strategies, and concepts that he shares are incredibly powerful and have already impacted my life, my business, my health and my relationships in so many ways!

If you're looking for a book that will change your life... Gift yourself with a copy of Brendon Burchard's High Performance Habits today. You deserve it!

As a Certified High Performance Coach, I received an advanced copy of this book by my mentor, Brendon, prior to its official release. I can honestly say I was glued to every word!

I highlighted the heck out of this book and then took the time to type up all of my notes and takeaways into my computer. I took over 40 pages of typed, single spaced notes!

I can't recommend this book enough. It should become everybody's success and achievement bible. And I promise, that is saying A LOT because I have easily ready over 500 books on success, mindset, and performance.

After enjoying Burchard's earlier "Motivation Manifesto," I was already curious about "High Performance Habits." It does not disappoint. My favorite explanation comes as Burchard offers 5 concise steps to follow for achievement of goals. A most memorable quote from his description is this: "...it's good to remember that without discipline, our dreams will forever remain delusions." He can so eloquently slap the slackers upside the head. Bravo!

This is the State of the Art personal development book of this, and probably future decades. It’s a 10/10 from many viewpoints. It takes readers, in manageable, practical steps, toward becoming the best … the ultimate version of themselves. The extent of original research alone, involving thousands of participants, is extra-ordinary. I know of no other work in the modern era that comes close to providing the depth and reliability of information that Brendon Burchard has provided.

Despite its academic background, this book is engagingly written. It’s a great read! Every page brings new insights and practices that will transform lives of readers who truly want to make a bold difference in the world. The world changes, one person at a time, but this book will transform the lives of millions.

As a committed student of Brendon Burchard, I read all of his books so far and this one is the cherry on top for me. I totally geek out about personal growth and High Performance and crave material that moves me to becoming my best self. This book is the perfect answer to that craving. His approach of High Performance is such a breath of fresh air in a world filled with hustle till you drop. He believes in "honoring the struggle" and the "hard work" but doing it with full presence, joy and engagement. I honestly can't recommend this book enough. Grab your copy today!

Brendon’s collection of 20 years of research and insight from his elite-level performance coaching is blowing my mind right now!! This book is PACKED and is a must-read for anyone looking to excel consistently, or even just to improve any single (or every single!) area of their lives. It’s the extraordinary-life manual and advanced training that the world seems to have been wishing for!

I’m so ecstatic for the massive impact this empirically proven work will have on our globe, and to take my own personal High Performance Habits to the next level with this book by my side.

Also making sure all my clients receive a copy as they’re such hard-working achievers who deserve every last strategy and fast track in here!

Thank you, Brendon, for giving us the knowledge and tools to live extraordinarily. And to break free from the pains of not doing so. I'm so grateful for you, your team, your research, and this mastery level book.

This book will undoubtedly be a continual reference for me throughout the rest of my life. It resonates with me so deeply and explains many things that I've done unconsciously, or at least without realizing it, throughout my journey thus far. It also explains what has been missing or minimized in my life. The deliberate practices to implement and deploy right now.

These High Performance Habits are practices and require ongoing effort, evaluation, and adaptation. Rather than promise some quick fixes or hacks, this book delivers what we need to put into our lives--things we must repeatedly do. Repeatedly doing them is on us. Forming habits isn't easy, but this book is a guide to which habits matter most in improving all aspects of our lives.

The release tension and set intention practice from the book is slowly becoming a habit, and it's made a huge difference! I'm still working on all of this...I've listened to the audiobook about 4 times and am finally going through the physical book again to do all the exercieses. High Performance Habits is a must for anyone who wants to do better, even if you're already "doing well".

I could go on and on about how Brendon has impacted my life with this book and all his other work, but if you're still reading this and have any questions about the value in the pages, reach out to me on social media @multitude27 and I'll be happy to answer any questions or vouch further for Brendon and this book.

Brendon has successfully crafted a revolutionary human evolution on the pages of his newest, High Performance Habits book. A must read for anyone of any age and circumstance who just wants more, and better in their life, not just for now, but consistently over the long term, its about levelling up, whatever level you are currently on!

As a certified High Performance Coach I am so excited of the impact this book will have on the planet and the influence it will have for positive change in those that hunger for a new, improved, experience of life. It is the exact 'how' and 'what' to do for those that seek to practice living consciously and with purpose.

Corporate world; the time has come! Get ready for the tools and approaches to developing higher performance individuals, teams and organisation to un-lock the true sustainable potential in your people. Brendon’s High Performance Institute has toiled to uncover proven, wide scoping scientific evidence and research that instructs us specifically, with the HP6 habits. This is a results driven, new way of cultivating sustained high performance.  For those working in high expectation environments, rest assured, as Brendon says; “By the end of the book, you will know what to think and do", then it's time for you to work on bringing it to life!

I love, love, love High Performance Habits! This book has helped my to see why I have not been successful CONSISTANTLY. High Performance Habits can help you to pin point which habits are lacking and consequently leaving performance lacking. And you can also see where you are already a Rock Star! I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to achieve higher levels of success and do it consistently. Also, get the hardback if you enjoy flagging books for reference. I already have it marked down to reread this book in 4 months to: 1)maintain and encourage my momentum, 2)see how I am doing 3)see if there is more I can implement, learn or relearn at that time.

What an insightful—yet strikingly straightforward—read! My first foray into Brendon's books proved a worthwhile endeavor on many levels.

As an action-taking entrepreneur…

I find the productivity habits illuminating, even though I consider myself focused, disciplined, and goal-oriented. Dialing in my prolific quality outputs and my five major moves is going to transform the way I approach my time and my to-do list. Coupled with the progressive mastery steps, which turn conventional skill-building on its head, these productivity habits are priceless.

As an empowerment advocate…

I resonate with Brendon's emphasis on agency and self-efficacy: high performance is a choice, a responsibility, and an opportunity available to us all. It is not dependent on inherent character traits or natural ability, a fixed belief that leaves one a dissatisfied instrument of life's vagaries rather than a confident cocreator with life's gifts. There is a universal calling for high performance, should we heed it—and that is unequivocally empowering.

As an editor and educator…

I value the book's simplicity and systematic structure. It follows a logical progression that's easy to understand and therefore more easily implemented. The six high performance habits are divided equally among two categories (personal habits and social habits) and then further broken down into three key practices for each, with performance prompts to take those practices from theory to action. How refreshing to see such clear organization and communication with a topic that could easily get convoluted! (The book could, however, benefit from an index.)

As a health practitioner…

I appreciate Brendon's attention to energy: "high performers have the magical trifecta of capital 'E' Energy—that holistic kind that includes positive and enduring mental, physical, and emotional vibrancy" (93). Yes! It is vital that we champion this message of whole-person wellness and embrace the reality that true high performers take all-around better care of themselves. Healthy diet and lifestyle habits, coupled with mental and emotional well-being, are indispensable to fueling your best self, not secondary to going after your dreams.

As a transformational coach…

I recognize the potential for personal transformation inherent in these pages. Adopting even a few of these habits can be life changing, upending patterns of self-sabotage and unleashing one's heretofore unrecognized inner power. Yet, as my primary piece of constructive feedback, the book doesn't take it far enough.

Brendon often invokes willpower as the defining force in change. For example, high performers "exert self-control" to turn an emotion into an intended feeling (80); energy can be generated "on demand, any time you want, through the power of habit" (97); "high performers will themselves into positive states" (105); "overeating is just a result of poor decision making—consciously choosing short-term gratification over long-term health" (119). While I recognize the importance of choice and personal agency (see above) and understand that such conclusions may be partially true, they're not the whole story.

I know from experience as a transformational coach that many people need hands-on, emotional-energetic, mind-body tools to address ingrained nervous system wiring, subconscious programming, childhood trauma, abuse, and many other factors that prompt a visceral response and keep people stuck. Deep-level healing often requires more than thought exercises, positive thinking, and a head-driven determination to change. But when you couple that determination with mind-body tools to clear the past and show up more powerfully in the present, then look out, world: here comes a fully embodied, high-performing dynamo!

(Undoubtedly, Brendon uses or recommends mind-body tools, as he references such entry-level practices as deep breathing and his release meditation. I realize that more advanced healing techniques are outside the scope of the book, but perhaps acknowledging the very real factors that keep people stuck would help the many for whom willpower isn't sufficient.)

As a heart-centered healer…

I love Brendon's emphasis on joy! Too often happiness and delight are lost on the path to peak performance. If we all consciously invited a little more joy into our lives, even programming a few daily reminders into our phones to "bring the joy," as Brendon recommends, then how might our families, workplaces, communities, and world look radically—and radiantly—different?

As a natural human connector and visionary…

I affirm Brendon's emphasis on our interconnectedness and synergy. True leaders and high performers do not achieve in isolation: they strive for excellence in a way that develops both themselves and others in order to make an extraordinary contribution to the world. That requires courage, but courage is contagious, "a gateway for our society to develop greater virtue" (262). Now that's a contagion we should all strive to catch, en route to cultivating a better version of ourselves and imagining a more virtuous world.

I suspect you, fellow the store reader and reviewer, share some of the aforementioned designations with me. But even if you don't, dare I propose that you read Brendon's book anyway? Absolutely! At this time of shifting global consciousness, we all have a responsibility to step up confidently as the most competent, congruent, connected human beings that we can be. Brendon makes this possibility accessible, offering a strategy for reawakening the indomitable human spirit that's designed for high performance—once equipped with the right habits, of course. :)

High Performance Habits is an excellent book that contains inspiring, wise, and research-based principles, as well as very detailed tips and practices that guide the reader step by step in the process of first becoming aware and then of consciously making new decisions, thereby eliciting people's will and ability to reflect and focus on the various aspects of their lives and then to actually implement those same practices. This well-balanced mix of research, real life stories, personal experience, theoretical perspectives, practical tips and teaching steps make this book a powerful tool for personal growth, achievement, and success.

I also love the quotes and the fact that anyone can find valuable, helpful information, as well as insights and strategies in this book – whatever their jobs, personal history, or current circumstances.

My husband bought it for me, and I was never as eager to read through a book as with this one, which by the way not only has great contents that so much resonate with me, but it's also very well written and easy to read and understand.

Definitely a must read for anyone who really wants to boost their lives and make a difference in this world.

Do not give your information to Brendan Burchard unless you want to be spammed to death. I started to fill out a form to download a free copy of this book, and something didn't feel right. I came here to read reviews and quickly learned I had absolutely no interest in receiving spam, so I deleted out of the form before downloading the book. Within hours, I received my first spam via a text message. Within three days, I have already received 4 email messages from him. Stay away.

This is a TOTAL GAME CHANGER! So many books come out each year explaining ways to improve your life but this one tops them all! I have read several of Brendon's books and I don't know how he manages to make the next book better than the last. Sometimes the content in personal improvement books comes from the experiences and perspective of the author and depending on the author that could be some great advice. What this book has done for me is show that the teachings of Brendon Burchard are actually proven through his research. It's one thing to say "this is what you should do", and another to say, "you should do this because all the data PROVES that what I say is right".

Brendon has poured out even more onto each of the pages of this book than I would ever have imagined about how I can reach my potential... and better yet, he gives me the exact practices to make it all happen.

What I have learned in the first half of the book feels like I am stealing all of Brendon's training that he teaches from stage and online all for the cost of a book. The value is incredible!

Thank you Brendon for your commitment to the highest standards!

I've been a student of Brendon Burchard since buying his Motivation Manifesto and signing up for his online courses 3 years ago and attending his High Performance conference. In this new book, while reminding me of some things I've already gleaned from his work before, he introduces methods that go even deeper than before and thought provoking words that once again have inspired me to show up in this life as the best version of me that I can be. Thank you Brendon! You rock! I highly recommend this book... for a jump start, for a great continuation... for some extra tools to enjoy this life through expansion and contribution.

There's a quiz associated with this book and I recommend taking that before reading. I ended up reading the whole thing, but you could also pick and choose chapters based on your quiz results (ie, which areas do you need to improve?).

Each chapter includes a lot of real world examples to help illustrate the points and then is wrapped up with the key take-aways. Often the take-away items you can immediately implement and take action, which I personally love.

Perfect read for anyone looking to be more intentional and effective with their time and make a better impact as a result!

I am one of Brendon Burchard's Certified High Performance Coaches. I received a galley copy in June 2017 and I am blown away by the research that has been conducted on the topic of how to develop and live as the best version of yourself over the long term. This book narrows down the 6 habits ANYONE can develop, practice and master to have success in their inner and outer world. It is a strategic curriculum to develop your best self in a shorter time than trying random tactics. I have been a client of HIGH PERFORMANCE Coaching and now am one because I believe in the power of these habits and what a difference it has made in me creating a purposeful and fulfilled life. You know deep in your heart you are capable of greatness. Don't back down from it. Get this book, start reading, absorbing and implementing these habits and watch as you level up to your next level of greatness.

With 370 book reviews preceding mine, I doubt there is much about the book’s content I can add that has not already been covered by another reviewer.

What I can say is that my hardcover version is heavily underlined, with many, many margin notes. Even so, I feel that there is so much to learn from this book that I need to reread it and make even more notes to myself.

If you are interested in growing yourself either personally or professionally, this book should be on your must read list. I know you will not be disappointed.

Brendon Burchard has put so much research into this subject and out of that research he is able to give such a crystal clear path to successful results by practicing the right habits. This book is packed full of wisdom and insight as well as the proactive steps the winners take to reach maximum output. This is a MUST READ for anyone, in any walk of life, never too old or young to develop the right habits. It is for anyone wanting to go, not just to the "next level", but the maximum level! And not just getting there but "becoming" there. It's about a journey of self mastery. Living the lifestyle of the extraordinary by "being" it. He really shares of himself and the style it is written in, causes me to feel a real connection to him as a person and the situation he is sharing. It is an easy read but a "meaty" read because it contains so much rich content. Anyone wanting to enrich their lives in every way must get this book!!

Goals, Priority, Scheduling (GPS) was very helpful. It is double entendre with GPS navigation where you have a system that drives you towards goals. Smart book that presents common sense organized as an ex-Accenture alum could appreciate. In short, the book helps you engineer a system of manageable steps, slightly new strategies, new tools and day to day 'blocking and tackling'

I love the whole manipulating yourself concept, so this fits right in.

After listening to Brenden speak earlier this year, I knew I would like his book. His fervor for living a passionate and meaningful life come through in both is spoken word and his written word. Some of the concepts may be similar to other high performance books but it does not hurt to go over the things that will make you better multiple times, in many different ways. Brenden has done a great job of compiling tons of information over the years and giving lots of real world examples of why these habits are the most important. I also appreciate that the books is interactive and you can take certain assessments to help you figure out where you could improve. Thank you Brenden for devoting your life to making sure others are shooting for the stars everyday, too.

I came across Brendon earlier this year because my career is focused on health and nutrition. I follow and trust his clients that have super successful careers in my field of work.

Brendon is phenomenal at reminding us how simple it is to be a good human. I really enjoyed reading about the importance of releasing tension and setting intention. Most of us have extremely busy schedules and I personally find myself going from one thing to the next without releasing the tension from my previous task and preparing myself to fully engage in the next task. I also notice the importance of knowing your "why" and surrounding yourself with successful people. I've heard this before but it's so important to be with like minded people! The absolute best advice I received from the book though is in regards to knowing exactly what matters the most and saying no to all other stuff as well as mastering YOUR skills. I was once told by a highly successful wrestling coach that the best way to be good at wrestling is to master a few specific moves. Same applies in life! We want to be good at everything but mastering specific things to us is important.

I liked this book for the idea that you can learn habits that yield success. It's your responsibility to learn. I liked this book for his passion for influence and his persuasion that we need to cultivate this. I think this is his genius. I would like a good audio format coaching this. I did not like this book because it spent more words selling the idea than listing the action. I felt impatient and wanted him to get to the point. I did not like this book because it had few cases studies. This was the author's intention. This reduced his credibility with me. I wanted to see how the he turned around his clients. Testimonials with concrete changes sell your service. If you want a simpler format for just goal setting and taking action, try Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy. Good succinct audio book for daily coaching.

I am not normally one to write a book review. However I feel compelled to do so to prevent others from wasting hours out of their life. I could barely make it through 2 hours of this book. For starters, the author is the narrator and I found his voice annoying. Comes off like a total infomercial. The guy repeats himself and constantly plugging his own website and social media. When he finally does get to the point, there is nothing new. Sounds like any other self help book I've read.

If you want more from your life, this book is a must! But don't think you can just read it - you've have to do the work and LIVE it! Incorporate these habits into your day, and you will start getting feedback from people asking "What are you doing differently?". I admit I am a personal development junkie, and have followed many of the masters. What is different about High Performance Habits is the massive research supporting these conclusions. While none of these habits are "new", what is different about this book is how each habit works synergistically with the others to multiply their power.

"High Performance Habits" isn't the end-all-be-all in personal development and high performance living. It is perhaps the most practical and comprehensive work we have to date because that is what Brendon set out to create in this effort. 'High Performance Habits' it is the culmination of the largest study on high performance worldwide to date: tens of thousands of participants across several countries, industries, and disciplines. It also pulls in intensive efforts in leading fields like neuroscience, advanced physiology, positive psychology, habits formation, etc.

I do this work for a living as a coach, trainer, and consultant. I am also a client of the High Performance Institute.

I often hear from my clients something along the lines of, "You know, I haven't learned anything new from you today. I already knew all of that. But I have a map, a guide, and accountability." I charge $600/hr+ to coach this work and they keep coming back.

In high performance coaching, it's not our goal to deliver information. You can get that pretty much anywhere in today's world. In coaching, we deliver transformation. High Performance Habits is information that, for you, the reader, can lead to transformation. That's priceless. This book is the place to start. If you're looking for tips, tricks and hacks, probably not for you. Tim Ferriss is great in that area, and mutually complementary, I think, to Brendon's work.

This book is about doing the work that works and we can prove it. As Brendon has said, "When you knock on Opportunity's door, don't be surprised if it's Work who answers."

"Common sense isn't always common practice" - Brendan says this and it rings so true to me. This book has great guidance for taking important frameworks and applying them to business and personal life. It really helped me see some of my blind spots, and got me back on track with some super important projects I had started to let slide because I was doing "good enough." Working in the corporate world for over 20 years, I have experienced all kinds of personality, talent, and performance tests and methods that came and went like fads, with no measurable effects on improving actual performance. A must have for every person wanting real change in their life and for every team that wants to go to the next level.

Not exactly what I was expecting. I was hoping it was a true, word for word reading of the book which it is not. More advertising for other classes and services offered by the author than I would have liked. Overall message was great, nothing mind blowing but, good information. So here's the deal. High Performance Habits is very unique. Here's why: the author spent close to $1m in academic research to get scientific facts about what ALL the highest performing people on our planet do. For example, some people might have passion, or a large network, but maybe there are people who aren't high performers who also have passion or a large network. The 6 habits in this book are reserved only for high performers. In other words, it's unlikely that you'll find a human being with these 6 traits, who isn't a high performing individual. That's why I believe this book is a classic in both business and in the study of human performance.

Brenden Burchard is a genius. His words in this book are phenomenal. When it comes to success and wanting success we hear all time work hard, grind, have belief and don’t give up. And although, those are encouraging words it has never allowed me to step into my full potential. He dives deeper into the physiological aspect of why we do what we do and how to fix it. Not just leaving us hanging with motivational words. I highly recommend any person who’s wants to grow and actually SEE results and impact more lives grab this book and a few for your friends and family! Thankyou Brenden!

OMG! What a gift to humanity! This book will blow your mind.

When I received my copy, I wanted to read it aloud to everyone I cared about, it's that good. It's constantly in my handbag, never too far from me! I can't get enough of it; you will want to read it over and over again. You will want to check in with the habits to see where in your life you can stretch yourself. The free professional assessment is brilliant for this. I have recommended this book to countless people! It's one of those books where you find yourself reaching for the post it notes and highlighters!

I've often wondered why some people are so successful and out of the ordinary and why they are way better at working through the chaos, calamities and challenges life throws at us, be it divorce, death of a loved one, failure, bankruptcy. Finally somebody has created a roadmap backed with research, stories, real experiences and real conversations so that we ALL get a chance to work towards becoming extraordinary, tackle our personal challenges, stay motivated, increase our happiness and achieve our dreams. It's now not just for the few, but for everyone who is serious about taking their lives to a whole new level.

The 6 habits shared in this book are priceless and they really will change your life. As the author writes, "change your habits, change your life". I am officially addicted to habit 4: Raising Necessity and the triggers mentioned. Some honest truths in this chapter about how serious you are about your life and business, if you're a dabbler, a novice, an amateur, a player or a high performer. You get to identify where you currently are and practically how you can get to where you desire to be.

The book has certainly shifted my attitude to service. You'll learn that when you have the opportunity to serve, you don't complain about the effort involved and why and how high performers are so obsessive about deadlines because they know that their time affects other people and their service to them. The Performance Prompts are excellent to work through, very practical and they will challenge you to take a good hard look at what's really going on in your life and the prompts will help you to banish some of the stories we tell ourselves.

This book is not a shortcut to success in your personnel and professional life. It is a systematic process for living a successful lifestyle.

Just gift yourself a copy ASAP. The sooner you do, the sooner you will start making changes in your life!

Full disclosure. I just paid for shipping of this book and did not pay full price.

I honestly do not usually write reviews. But I felt compelled to help others who might not be sure about this book.

I found this book to be a less concise and less effective attempt to cover material presented in other books like How to win friends and influence others 7 habits of highly effective people.

It seemed more like an attempt to get people to sign up for the authors programs and services and tout how amazing his services are.

There are some decent statements and correlations but overall nothing groundbreaking and the repetitive nature of having to read about all of the people the author has worked with is tiresome.

Whilst working at the world's largest management consulting company, I noticed that the individuals leading the organisation have a certain presence about them which makes them stand out as exceptional. Over many months I started jotting down their attributes to see if I could find patterns in the data. A couple of years later I had completed my personal "Top Five Attributes of Successful Leaders". Adopting and fostering these attributes made a dramatic and immediate improvement in all areas of my life, and continues to do so today.

I was surprised (well, amazed actually) when Brendon published a list which so closely matched my own. From personal experience I am delighted to tell you that he is spot-on with his analysis and has documented his observations in his usual engaging style. In this book you will find genuinely usable strategies and simple, practical advice to help you make these habits your own. If you are committed to personal development then I highly recommend that you buy this book and let Brendon share with you the "Secret Sauce" that creates exceptional leaders.

This is the second book I have read from Brendon Burchard, the first being Millionaire Messenger. Some of the concepts sound somewhat repetitive if you follow Brendon's work. Although the key tenets and concepts are not new, they appear thoroughly researched and has Brendon's stamp on it!
I love reading Brendon's writings. The stories are practical and well woven to emphasize key concepts and points.
If you want to achieve extraordinary success then this book can help you re-direct your energies the right way. The 6 High Performance Habits are all-encompassing, direct and to some extent "in your face".
Brendon has a subtle way of telling you to up your game without making you feel inadequate. He is great with telling the same story in different ways. Highly recommended.

I have read several of Brendon Burchard's previous books and found them to be excellent books on leadership. As a recent retiree from a career as an educational leader, I hesitated to read High Performance Habits because my focus for my lifestyle has shifted. Two months after retiring I lost my house and everything in it in a wildfire and subsequently relocated to a new community. Absolutely great book that i was able to read/review with an advanced copy that i freely received and I just recently bought an additional hard copy version as give away to one of my clients. The structure is very helpful, really focusing on clarifying the habits (with sufficient examples) that gets you to the next levels in your life. There are many questions/practices in the book as well on each habit that makes it practical to think more and get more out of the book in your own life. As it has the research based proof that confirms these habits as game changers to become sustained high performers, it is excellent to use and share this book while explaining these high performance habits to people who are less familiar with it and want hard data/proof that something works (I'm one of those people myself). I heard an ad on the radio and was very interested to learn more. Because I do feel I'm a high performer who isn't achieving anything. But then I went to the website and when I saw "focus on key performance indicators", I knew this wouldn't be a book for me. Maybe it is because I work for an organization that mismanages the heck out of them and they provide no real value to us. In fact I posted a quote about how they are corporate fluff and a tool used by lousy managers to measure things. But best of luck to the people who are succeeding with this program. Just wanted to note this as a marketing tip for Brendon.

Eagerly anticipated book by the awesome Brendon Burchard. His generosity has already enabled us to train online on the habits in this book and the excerpts he has already circulated are awesome. Although a fan of his for over 9 years, I have never written a review of his books before, because being an author myself, I've never felt he found his voice in his writing before. The performance prompts at the end of the chapters are fantastic motivators because it is all laid out for what steps to take to improve your life. He is also BOLD in how he approaches coaching and life and I think we can all use some more of that. Don't hesitate! Buy this book today because it WILL inspire and help you to change your life.

This book is exciting, encouraging, and challenging. Brendon Burchard connects motivation, purpose, and habits in a laser point focus while showing how it is doable to become your best self and how desired outcomes are achievable.

I love that he maintains integrity, ethics, and character while discussing achievement and success.

Love this book!! It is insightful, honest and a guide on the habits needed to succeed, based on years of research and empirical evidence.
The book provides practical and real thought behind what is needed to achieve your personal best.
My favorite and what really resonated with me the most, was Habit #5, "Develop Influence," I was amazed at the difference quality that do and don't create influence in a person life. This is one of the main areas that I am looking to improve in my life and found his research and guidance priceless, a real eye opener.
Overall, it all comes together, increase your habits in one area help improve in others too and there is a positive correlation. It is absolutely worth reading, again and again:-)!
I highly recommend this book as I would other books by Brendon Burchard.

This book and Brendon Burchard have changed my life, the way I think, the way I talk, the way I act, the way I carry myself and the way I lead others. I've been following Brendon for 3-4 years now and he's inspired me to be the best version of me. A lot of self help and motivation strategies wear off but with Brendon I find sustained levels of motivation that stick with me over the long haul. I look forward to sharing this book with family, my team and others and I always look forward to the next book, course or training Brendon publishes...

Such an incredible book. Great lessons and stories from one of the best. Brendon Burchard is so genuine and caring. I had the privilege of seeing him speak at Lewis Howes Summit of Greatness, and he does not disappoint in person or on paper.

Thank you Brendon for an amazing book! I was looking for that extra guidance in elevating my performance to the next level and this book has done it. I have already put some of the tools into practice and will execute more of them in the coming months. The principles are clear and concise. The stories of high performers struggling brought the lessons to life. Years of research in one book. Wow! Thanks again!

I wasn't prepared to like this book as much as I did, but it is truly eye-opening.
I'm a big fan of practical thinking, and Brendon does a great job of breaking down his concepts and ideas. He also provides several exercises (questions you should answer) to reflect on how you can apply this new philosophy in your life.
Not many books that I've read break it down for you like that.
This book is more about reflection and application than it is just reading. If this sounds like your cup of tea then I would highly recommend buying this book.
Amazing. I'm very happy with this purchase.

I bought this book last spring and was very surprised at the excellent tips and tricks for high performers. I was getting very bored with my current personal development books as I felt they were just saying the same things over and over. Brendon really brings it home with this book and has a ton of new and innovative ideas backed by science.

Get the book and then go to the High Performance Academy seminar and spend four days with Brendan! It will be life-changing!

I recommend this book to everyone in my life that is looking to take stock and control over their time management and procrastination challenges. Brendon teaches you how to change your thinking and behavior by giving you practical examples that help you apply and maintain your new habits. I will be reading this one a few times. It’s definitely a book you want to invest in if you struggle with or want to learn how to manage higher daily living standards for yourself. Thank you, Brendon, for changing my perspective.

Habits are not enough a toxic world. We need serious political and social change as well. This has been an era of radical wealth grab, and extreme increasing inequality so that MOST American school kids now qualify for free and reduced lunch. How many kleptocrats has Burchard coached? Most Americans are now poor, many are addicted. My workplace is totally dysfunctional with MANY cluster Bs. This is common. I have a PhD, I have been very "successful" and like many of my high achieving peers who work in government, academe, healthcare, social service, media, law, environmental protection, etc. we can't improve our lives without changing our institutions! The Burchard materials are often useful but he radically ignores all but ignores all but the personal. His motivation manifesto book revealed that he has not learned history or sociology and it was pompous and winceworthy. Brendan if you are going to reference history, get educated, read some Chomsky, Foucault and perhaps Zinn's People's History of the USA. Read John Dewey and Charles Taylor to understand that we not just individuals seeking freedom. We are inescapably interconnected. We dont even have language without other people. We are not "free". Toss out your Any Rand, the philosophy of teenagers and sociopaths. The fact is that under right wing neoliberalism, most institutions, and many workplaces are inherently abusive and run by narcissists, sociopaths and opportunists. Brendan's "create necessity" includes the sort of amoral ambitions of these disordered people...get ahead! Win! Be Famous! Get rich! Kick ass! This is socially toxic. We can’t all be self employed to get away from it. People live in social and political contexts. Under neoliberalism we have seen the atomization of civic life and the radical undermining of the public institutions and safeguards from education to healthcare to civil rights. Egged on by media, people are polarized and hate crimes are on the rise. The problem and solution is not just people’s attitudes and so called apolitical people like Burchard and Oprah (who was deliberately apolitical or most of her career) are part of the problem. I would like to see a man with Burchard's energy and sincerity get woke and become part of the solution.
