My son is 7 years old and reads at the third grade level. I wanted to give him something fun to read and a bit different than the assigned readings in school. This was a little easy for him but he really enjoyed reading it, he laughed and smiled throughout the book. He finished reading this book in just a few days. Sometimes it is a good idea to make reading fun again and give them something they can relate to so they can engage. I will definitely get him more of the books in the series.

I bought this book for my ten year old son. Our first language is Norwegian, but he's been learning English in school for some years now, so we were looking for a little challenge for him.

This book provided excactly that in an excellent way. Not only did it provide just the correct language difficulty level, but was also funny and exciting enough to carry him through the four or five sittings he needed. He'll be looking into the other books in this series shortly, I hope!

I liked this book because Roscoe Riley uses super-duper-mega-gonzo glue to glue the antennas and stick it on their heads. One thing the author did well was describe things with a lot of adjectives and different fonts. She also had a really good book series idea. My favorite part was when Roscoe glued the antennas together and the glue spilled on all the chairs. My favorite character is Roscoe Riley because he gets in trouble a lot and has funny ideas. I would recommend this book if you like books that are funny with a lot of craziness, and with people ”running and screaming with chairs glued to their butts.”
From Roscoe’s chair glue; Gus:” there is something on my chair’’ Coco: “probably your own nose glue.”

{My Thoughts} – Roscoe Riley is an entertaining first grade boy. He’s got a lot of mischief making on his plate, although most seems to happen when he is trying to do the right thing or attempting to help someone.

In this book they have an open house at school. He decides to try and help his teacher. Although, his heart was in the right place, his thought process was not. Open house started out grand and ended I’m complete chaos.

I highly recommend this book for any child that is having a difficult time engaging in the book world. It has a nice lesson about following the rules and it has humor, which makes for a nice read.

My 7-year-old reads at a 4th grade level, but he doesn't enjoy reading. Well, nothing aside from Pokemon books or Wrestling magazines. I've been struggling to introduce him to reading for pleasure -- a real book, you know, with chapters.

This book is just what he needed. Chapter 2 is less than a page long. He liked that. I think he gets intimidated by long chapters and quickly loses interest. He read the first 5 chapters last night & wanted to read more. I'm sure he'll finish it tonight, but it's nice that he was left wanting more. I can't count how many books he never finished reading.

Anyway, the book revolves around a boy who finds himself in trouble, although his actions are well-intentioned. It reads easily and quickly. The humour is really engaging. He is really enjoying reading this book. I'm sure we'll be looking for others in this series!

Roscoe Riley is a great young male character that appeals to and emulates an under addressed group- young boys who want to do good. Roscoe has good intentions which often go awry but he makes recompense in time out and tells you all about it from his chair in the corner. There is a great family dynamic with Mom and Dad, an older brother and younger sister. His teacher Ms Diz (in her first year of teaching) exemplifies the frazzled exhaustion that comes from managing our own Roscoes. We read the series as a family (6yr boy, 4yr boy, 2yr girl) but it would be appropriate for a 1st-3rd grade independent reader. Nice size print with pictures interspersed. Great read!

I think this is an amazing book because it had glue in the name, and it also said never glue your friends to chairs. If you like mischief, you would like this book. The main character's name is Roscoe Riley. He has one older brother and one younger sister. In my opinion, his brother is mean like my sister. He glues all his friends to their chairs because they won't listen to their teacher and sit down. But when his teacher finds out he gets in big trouble. If I would do that I would get in huge trouble. I don't know how he got away with what he did. He probably had a lot of guilt when the book was over.

This is an excellent book in a wonderful series of 7 (we own all of them). The chapters are short and exciting and keep your child's attention. Children can relate to sweet Roscoe and the mess he sometimes creates for himself and his friends when he makes poor choices. He has consequences for his actions in "time out" which is nicely tied into the book. This creates a great lesson opportunity for you and your child. Any 5-9 year old will love these books. I just wish there were more than 7 . . . keep em' coming!

Roscoe Riley is an absolute favorite of my first grade son. As is mentioned in other reviews, it is hard to find wholesome books for boys, that boys will actually want to read! This book had an added bonus for my 1st grade son, who is the youngest of three boys, he loves that Roscoe has a "mean" older brother, making it even easier for my son to identify with Roscoe's adventures! I'd highly recommend the entire Roscoe Riley series!

These Roscoe Riley chapter books are funny and boy-oriented, and MUCH MUCH better than other series (for example, Magic Tree House books) in terms of characters and humor. They are entertaining books. Plenty of illustrations, short chapters.

Mom input: No potty language, no boogers, some mild insults, nice kids, school situations. And FUNNY. These books will keep your little guy going after he's read all the step readers.

My 3 year old grandson loves to listen to Roscoe Rules. We have all seven books on Audible. His mother appreciates that even though Roscoe gets into trouble it is more from bad judgment than from rebellion or rudeness.

My son is in first grade and his teacher has been pushing him to read chapter books. I found this book and bought it and told him that it sounded just like him and maybe he should read it. He did and he loved it. He wanted to read them all and then exploded into reading other chapter books. What a great chapter book that still has pictures and an interesting story.

My five and three year old love Roscoe and insisted on the whole series. The three year old doesn't understand everything but gets enough to stay engaged and talk about it after reading. The five year old has a blast with this really good boy who always gets into trouble even though he always means well.

I also enjoy them.

This is really funny story about Roscoe Riley. All the younger readers would love to get this book in their hands. ROscoe is not a wicked, mean boy. He is just mischievous. He likes to have fun. He is fun.

This is the worst book I read in my lifetime . It was not good at all. It was horrible.

This is by far one of the best series I've found for my 7-year-old son. He is very particular and I have to really hunt for books that will peak his interest and draw him in. This series did it. Roscoe is very similar to my son . . . getting in trouble when he doesn't really try. Roscoe's heart is always in the right place but bad things still happen. My son would not put these down and immediately wanted to read all 7 books in the series. Even my 9-year-old son read these and chuckled. We wish the author would write a few more!

Get this book if you've got a child who you are trying to get interested into reading. It was like pulling teeth to get my 7 year old to read every night and once I got him this book he looks forward to reading time every day. He is now on the last book of the series. We laugh from the first page until the last.

I picked up this book on a whim at the book store for my 8 year old son. He struggles with reading and this book seemed easy enough to read while not being too babyish of a story. I was right. He thoroughly enjoyed Roscoe's antics, not just in this book, but #2 and #3 as well. We just found out that #4 is now in the book stores. He asked me if we could go get it. I think we found a winner!

I bought this book for my 8 year old son to read over the summer. He read the entire book in one sitting and is now begging me to buy him the other books in the series. He thinks the main character is funny. Although the character does some crazy things, my son is old enough to know not to try to copy him and that it is just for fun and entertainment.

I must admit I had no intention to review this book until I saw all the 5 star reviews. I read this book to my children 2 years ago. They giggled and laughed but I hated it. Once again, the main character is a badly behaving kid who does silly things. There are so many great books out there for kids, why do we need to feed them this stuff? Now that my kids can read on their own I would only give them these books if they really hated reading or just weren't finding any other books that interested them. It really isn't great. I'm not even sure they would like it still.
